Powercolor hd 4770 troubleshoot

I have powercolors HD 4770 on windows 7 and I use a Syncmaster T220 monitor. For some reason I can't get windows to increase resolution beyond 1360x1024. Could anyone help me solve this?

  1. I forgot to mention that I already tried the obvious: I updated monitor and graphic card drivers.

well, on the specification, your monitor can go with 1680 x 1050.
Already tried with both DVI or VGA connections?

Already installed the latest driver? then try the one inside the CD...
  3. Thanks for the reply.
I already tried changing from DVI to RGB. With DVI cable I am allowed max 1280x1024 resolution. When using the RGB cable I can go to 1360x1024.
Also tried using the boxed monitor driver but it is a 32 bit version - still no effect.
I would be grateful for more tips
  4. Did you just upgrade to this card and if so did you get full rezolution on the old one?
  5. I used a Sapphire Radeon HD 4870x2 before and got full resolution on it. That card is now malfunctioning so I changed to a Powercolor HD 4770.
  6. The only thing that I would try is to uninstall CCC and the drivers completely then re-install.
  7. Thanks for the advice punnar! I did what you said. I uninstalled CCC, graphic card driver and monitor driver then suddenly I could up the resolution to 1600x1200.

Windows 7 however installed automatically a graphic card driver and prompted me to reboot. And I was back to 1280x1024 maximum.

Then I re-installed drivers and CCC but back to the same.

    What should I do?
  8. I had a guy from a computer store take a look and he is as dumbfounded as I am.

    Still open to suggestions.
  9. What version CCC did you install?
Are you installing the drivers separately or are you installing the complete CCC package?
  10. I am using the complete package Punnar. It's CCC 10.8 W7 64bit
  11. Can anyone give me some more help? Problem still persists
  12. I'm using that driver on w7 64 bit for a 4870 but have no issues. Windows did install the drivers automatically for the card but it works with CCC 10.8 at 1920x1080.

Try uninstalling everything again, let windows load it's drivers, reboot then see what kind of resolution you get without installing CCC.
  13. Unfortunately I tried this already. I dont think its a graphic card problem.
I installed an older graphic card and the problem persists.
I am now convinced that it's not the graphics its the monitor (Syncmaster T220).
My only conclusion is that W7 64bit cant detect T220 correctly.
I will try to contact Samsung.
And I will buy a new monitor tomorrow.
  14. What was wrong with you old video card btw?
