Hey guys can anyone confirm that an AMD Athlon II X2 250 can be "Unlocked" or "Unleashed" with 2 extra cores?
Since I'm gonna do a major upgrade, why not pay the price of an X2 for the performance of an X4!!!
I'm will buy this MOBO:

Unfortunately the Athlon II X2 Regors are true dual cores, meaning that they don't have two locked cores, unlike the Athlon II X3, Phenom II X2 and Phenom II X3.

"Regor" (45 nm, Dual-core)

* Regor is a native dual-core die design with no disabled cores and no L3 cache.

Unlocking cores isn't guaranteed anyway, more don't unlock than unlock.

If you want a quad core the only way to guarentee getting one is to buy one.

I have a PII 555 that did unlock to a quad and runs along @3.6ghz quite easily. Downside of unlocking is it messes up the monitoring progs as far as temps per core goes.

Some decide to pick up a triple core, at least if it doesn't unlock ypu still have 3 cores.

If you can afford it get a quad core like the PII 955/965 etc, they overclock easily with the unlocked multiplier, have the L3 cache and are guareenteed quad core performance.

If you don't mind ending up with a dual core and fancy a go at unlocking pick up a PII 555/560 and have a go.
