Is a freezing system a symptom of a dying video card?

There is nothing wrong with my memory, hard drive, monitor, drivers, dvd, power supply. I have checked or replaced them. However, my laptop just randomly stops. Everything looks the same, but it just freezes and doesn't respond to any keyboard functions. The only thing I can do at that point is hold down the power button until it shuts off, then restart. Needless to say, that makes me a little nervous. Is this a dying video card, or possibly another type of hardware failure?

Well, I have a brand new hard drive with windows seven instead of Vista, new drivers, and most of my software is new. This has been happening for a long time, that's why we replaced the hard drive, and thought that would fix it.
