I have some patriot gaming series 2 2x4gb 8gb total ram at 1600mhz at 1.65v. When I tweak the settings in the bios i keep getting the BSOD. When I check the frequency now 762mhz. Im not sure what Im doing wrong. Thanks
You set the actual voltage in your BIOS for the ram to be at 1.65v right? Even though the RAM says it's rated for it, sometimes the BIOS doesn't actually set it to 1.65 and keeps it at 1.5 by default.
Additionally, have you considered changing your timing (1t vs 2t?). I have OCZ Platinum dual channel DDR3, 4gb of it. I had to change my timing to 2t, 7/7/7/24 at 1.65 volts to keep it stable at 1600 mhz.
You may not actually be able to run it at 1600, especially if you are tightening the timings.
What CPU do you have?
What are you using to check your RAM's bus speed?
I was using the amd overdrive to check the ram speed. Yes I did set it to 1.65v in the bios but I just used the manufacturers timing default. Ill try to change them hopefully have better results. My cpu is a phenom ii 980 overclocked to 4.2ghz
