HELP!!! Dropped my 1tb external hard drive now wont work

The other day I managed to drop my external hard drive about 60cm onto tiles. It worked ok after that for about 2 minutes then it kept disconnecting. Now my computer wont read it. The led light is flashing, Under My Computer it shows the Hard Drive there but it says just local disk f: when I had a name for it originally. I can hear the Hard Drive spinning. Device Manager shows the hard drive but you can't access any information.

Please help as I have very important items on this hard drive which I really need.

I did leave it with a friend yesterday. That is probably what happened. Thank you I will look into buying another to transfer the data off this one then sending it in to be fixed since I still have my warranty.

Why would you "Stick it" to the vendor and claim a warranty repair when you clearly dropped the drive and did damage to it? You hurt us all in the marketplace by taking advantage of an unfortunate situation of your own doing.

Man Up ! You dropped it -- you buy a new on

Some places like BestBuy do offer Accidental damage warranty - for extra $$$ of course. I always tell my customer "Anything you carry you will eventually drop. If you cant afford to buy a new one, get the drop warranty."
