Hi. I want to change my on-board video card with a dedicated one.

My system configuration is:

ASRock M3A785GMH/128M
AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor, Socket AM3 (938)
2x1024 Dual Channel Kingmax DDR3 1600MHz PC12800
Sata 2 WD 160GB
19" Samsung SyncMaster 913TM Monito
r

My budget aint that high, and i'm not a "big gamer", but like to test the new games out, so if they run at 1280x1024 at a medium quality i'm satisfied.

These 2 graphic cards fit into my budget , prices are the same, but cant decide which one is better:
Gainward nVidia GeForce GT240, 512MB, DDR5, 128bit, HDMI, PCI-E
or
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4670, 1024MB, DDR3, 128bit, CrossfireX, HDMI, PCI-E

Thanx for ur answers :D

A 5670 is about the same price as both the GT 240 and the 4670 but is stronger than both and runs a bit cooler too so check out that option too. Of those two, a GT 240 with GDDR5 is faster than a 4670.

isnt that an issue that the 5670 runs on 2.1 PCI-E and my MB has only 2.0?

that good, i found 2 5670 models that cost really not much over the 240 or the 4670...so i have another question does the manufacturer count?

i have found 1 from Sapphire and 1 from XfX...

Both Sapphire and XFX make good cards, so the manufacturer doesnt matter in this case. PCI-E cards are copatible across the spectrum except for a few motherboards with 1.0 slots not working well with 2.1 cards but i havent heard anything about any 2.1 cards not working right with a 2.0 board.

thanx guys...but now, as i agreed to pay a bit over what i initialy wanted, in order to get the Radeon 5670, i looked around to see, what else can be found for that money (this gonna be a devils circle, everytime for a bit more there's a better card :p) and i saw there's a
VC Leadtek WinFast PX9800 GT 512MB DDR3, 1800MHz, on 256bit
and a
Daytona Nvidia GeForce GT240 Sonic, 1024MB, DDR5, 128bit, HDMI, PCI-E

obviously, the GT240 with 1GB is better then the 1 with only512 :p...but is the radeon 5670 still better in this case too? and what about the 9800 GT, i heard many good things bout that card. i know the GT240 has less GPU and Memory speed then the 5670, but it's still DDR5 and with 2x Memory size, and on the other hand the 9800GT has only DDR3 but on 256Bit

9800GT is better than the GT240 (GT240~9600GT). 9800GT has better graphics processor. (the famous G92)

HD5670 is little slower than the 9800GT.
