WD My Passport Essential se 1tb problems

Hello,
ANY knows how i can get around this WD, it suddenly just stoped being detect.It spins and beeps some sound, the light keeps blibking on it.
WD smartware software gave me this report

I have exactly the same problem, can anyone help? I've even tried updating the firmware, but the firmware updater just continues forever without completion (have disable all virus/malware protection, etc). If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated - the other solutions I've seen consist of flukey on unrelated actions that don't affect my problem at all. There must be more of us out there, hasn't anyone solved this in a consistent, replicable manner?
