Harddisk beep and cant detect the harddisk

Hello,my computer cannot access to the window after the power cut of my place.
The harddisk keep beeping 1 LONG 1 SHORT when I turned on the computer and show "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

I tried to re-connect the harddisk already but it didn't help any.

Please help!I've got a lot in my harddisk!

BIOS beeps and what they mean depends on the BIOS manufacturer or the computer manufacturer, neither of which you've disclosed so it's difficult to say what they mean.

The error message, however, is much more telling, as it may mean the hard drive has failed. Test it with the drive maker's diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD. The links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

On a working PC, create a CD from the diagnostics ISO file with IMGBurn: http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Now boot your faulty PC from that CD to test the hard drive. Choose the Long/Extended test.
