Sound Card vs Built-In Sound For Music

Last response: in Components

A friend of mine is looking to build a computer primarily for producing music. As of right now he just uses software to create and record tracks. No input devices are being used at the moment. Is it worth purchasing a sound card in order to obtain a high quality sound or built-in sound is sufficient enough to do the job. Also what are the advantages of obtaining a sound card if any input devices are purchased.

Thanks in advance

Hello, and welcome to THG.

First off, a sound card is just and output device. If your friend wants a higher quality sound, he may need to invest into a newer system.
