I just plugged in my laptop and poof...it started smoking = /

...I guess I'm now in the market for a new laptop pc. Its been years since I've compared components and they're all different now so I'm totally lost.

If you have any suggestions on laptops, components, or purchase sites, please share.

1. It needs to be able to play the newest games
2. My budget is $1000 - $1500.

Ok, that looks like a nice budget range for a fast lappy with dedicated graphics. There's a couple of resources.
I like PCworld.com as they do a lot of reviews and match up by usage.
