Hello,

I would like to clone my OCZ Revodrive 120gb which i use for system atm. The target SSD would be a Samsung 840 PRO 256gb.

How should i do that, and what would be the correct procedure?
Will there be any performance issues you think? Or will it work the same way? I reinstalled windows like 1 month ago.

Thanks

attach the new drive via dock or usb cable, run cloning software, remove old drive, install new drive, boot up, expand the partition if the cloning software doesn't/didn't do that.

So, i installed the new SSD via the SATA3 dock. I see it in my manage setting in Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have some other questions?

What type of disc should i select, in the manage menu, cos i have it as unasigned. New Simple Volume I suppose, right?
Which cloning program you suggest?
And, if needed to expand the partition, I suppose that I can do that in the manage setting, right?

Thanks for now.

I use Acronis true image home 2010 to clone OS drives. It works great! there have been problems reported for later versions of Acronis but, 2010 works great.

No performance issues. It work the same way and again, I use Acronis true image home 2010 (so can you).
With Acronis true image home 2010 you will be able to re-size the partition to a size of your liking.

Install SSD, open Acronis true image home, click tools & Utilities, from the drop-down menu select clone disk, follow the prompts. It's actually very easy. :sol:

Ok, the migration worked flawlessly, and again i wana thank you Idonno for the tips.

Altho, i haev some minor problems now. I went to SAMSUNG's site, to fetch new drivers, and saw Samsung Magicina 4.0 and the drivers. I installed the software, but when i want to run it, my system freezes and i need to reboot it... any clues? Thanks

Not really, However I did a search and found quit a few people having issues with the Samsung Magician software.
One thing that stands out is magician is incompatible with GPT partitioned disks, you need to use MBR.
Anyway this thread may help: http://www.overclock.net/t/1190026/official-samsung-ssd830-840-owners-club/770

You should also have the Sata ports your SSD is on running in AHCI mode. You set this in your bios. Here is a useful thread pertaining to that: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1707102 :sol:

I migrated successfuly, did a sector repair so Samsung Magician works great, updated the Firmware, setup the windows for best SSD Performance.

Altho, the performance of the SSD is not the same as others get.

AS SSD BENCHMARK shows 736 score...

Wow, I've never had that problem. It's talked about here though: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-104962.html

Your Acc.time scores are nice and low.

Below are my scores w/2-Sata II Corsair Force 120GB SSD's raid 0. Ignore the ones on the right that is the same drives with SuperCache 5 enabled. I already had this screenshot saved in photobucket and didn't feel like changing it.
