Call of duty black ops running slow

Hello,
I have
AMD Atlon X2 2.1 GHZ 4000+
Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB
4GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM in Dual Channel
Windows XP SP3

Call of Duty Black Ops is very choppy and unplayable. I have played Modern Warfare 2 at full resolution on this same machine and it ran smoothly. Any suggestions?

Lower your settings or update your PC

Black Ops is more graphically intensive compared to MW2, and there have been documented issues with Black Ops on the PC. Make sure the game is patched to the latest version.

The game runs like *** on dual cores you need a quad to run it smoothly.

Have you made sure that you have all the patches for Black Ops installed?

You have a 8800 GT. I have a 8400 GS and the game ran smoothly in some levels except in the jungles at 800 X 600 resolution.
Also I have a E7500 CPU (Intel) @ 2.93 GHz. Mostly I think its your processor. Its quite outdated. Do you have the latest NVIDIA 260.99 WHQL drivers for your 8800 GT ??

Maybe thats the problem. Also, note, Black Ops does not run much good with Dual Core Processors like yours or mine.
