Problem powering SimpleTech USB harddrive

Hi

All of a sudden I can't power the disk at all. Not sure if I should take it of the USB Enclosure and then if I can trying using the kits (video's on Youtube) where I can just attach the Disk using the kit to PC directly outside of enclosure.


Any help would be highly appreciated. I have some important family pictures on it.

Your problem description is a little vague.

Does the drive spin up? Does it make any sounds?

Is it port powered, or does it require an AC adapter?

Apologies, The drive requires a AC adapter, It does nothing at all. It is supposed to show a light in front, but that doesn't come up, there is no spinning at all, and no sounds at all.

Assuming you have tried another adapter, then removing the drive from its enclosure would be your next step.

I haven't tried changing the adapter, but that's a great idea. Afterwards, will try using the kit and taking drive out of encl.
