I've recently gotten a wireless connection and router for my home, however I
my connection to the router is really bad and constantly breaks off.
Yesterday when i ran the command: ipconfig /all on the ms-dos prompt, i
found that under the heading Windows IP configuration the setting for my Node
Type is peer to peer.

This i assume that im connected to the router through another computer... :(
how did this happen? Is there any way i can fix this?
I have tried various ways, short of reformatting my computer in hopes of
solving this problem.

Also, whn i am able to connect to the intrnet, whenever i start MSN
messenger i constantly run into errors with my DNS and key ports. I'm
assuming this is a result of the peer to peer setting of my windows ip
configuration.

I need constant access to the internet as my school places great emphasis on
IT, and the inability of my computer to connect to the internet/router is
abosolutely driving me crazy. Advice and solutions would be really greatly
appreciated. Thank you

You might want to take a look at this article for instructions
on how to change the node type:

You cannot view other workgroup computers on the network on a
Windows XP-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/defau [...] -us;903267

Deleting the registry entries should leave you with a node type
of Unknown. That will not be a problem. Hybrid would also work
in your situation.
