SMART stands for self monitering analyzing reporting technology.
It is a self test of your Hard Drive, basically, it's like you have a check engine light going on. If it's just a couple of months old, save critical data to a thumbdrive, and call the manufacturer, it should be covered in under warranty still, they should replace it free of cost.
A new hard drive would be under $100, possibly under $50 depending on the size.
