Ddr2 vs ddr3 on a am3

im planning on getting either a athlon II x4 or a phenom II x4 but i was wondering if i got a am3,am2+, am2 mother board and used my ddr2 ram i have now what would be missing out on if i were to upgrade to the ddr3?

I did the DDR2 thing over a year ago because I have 8G and 64bit OS. If you have anything less of either I would go to DDR3. It's not going to get much cheaper to make the move and DDR2 is fading away.

GET ddr3 to get best performance out of your CPU, and think about going for at least 4GB, its cheap and worth it.

its not just ddr3 when switching to an am3 board though. am3 boards support higher HTT whereas i belive its locked at 1.6 on an am2+ board so if you want to get the most out of your cpu an am3 board is your best bet. if you stick with an am2+ board make sure you check compatibility i recently updated my cpu and being an idiot forgot to check and ended up finding out my mobo doesent support cpu's with a higher wattage than 95w.
