I'm building an AMD Phenom II x6 core rig and was wondering what you guys would recommend just for someone that's building a PC.

Asus M4N68T-M V2

GigaByte GA-870A

ASUS M5A97

None of them are terribly expensive and that's personally what I'm going for. I'll be using a GTX 560 Ti. I know some don't support SLi but that's fine. I don't plan on running 2 GPU's. Thanks you guys for taking the time to look through these

It depends on your needs. I always recommend Gigabyte mobos for performance and reliability. The only two mobos that I have had fail in 20 years of building PCs were both Asus and Asus has no customer support IMO.

The various Gigabyte mobos cover the full spectrum from basic to all the whistles and bells. Since you're looking to buy now I would suggest an AM3+ mobo with the 900 series chipset. This will run your X6 and also the new Bulldozer based Zamabezi CPUs.

If you're not planning on using Crossfire or SLI then the 970 or 990x models will be fine. The link below show you the difference in AMD mobo chipsets which is primarily the number of PCI-E X16 and PCI slots on the mobo...

no real sli/xfire prospects on any of them tbh, the ones with more than 1 full length x16 slot only have 4 lanes on the second slot, so no use really. as for choice, personally i'd choose one of the 9xx chipset am3+ models for the ability to upgrade cpu in future without having to change mobo. all are basic voltage regulation so don't be too hopeful about overclocking (but sometimes you can get lucky ;) )
if you really don't care about upgrading cpu within the mobo's lifetime, do some bargin hunting for some cut-priced am3 models now being replaced with am3+ ones. the amd 8xx chipset mobo's normally have all the modern features like sata 6gb/s, usb 3.0, ect.
