Hey everybody. I am looking to rebuild, but I just don't have the time to get back up to speed on what the latest that industry has to offer in every component that I need to buy. You see... my last build has lasted me 7 years through EQ1 to WoW and more, so I am very behind the times. Here's what I need out of a new system:

1. Small: (microATX preferred) desk space is very limited. Willing to spend a bit extra in this department to get a good case that will last and has GREAT airflow and is easy to open, clean, and get at components and stays COOL. I know this sounds like a lot to ask out of a micro, but i've heard of some good cases that are very user friendly that have come out. CPU Cooler must fit in a micro box (sorry I just had to say it).

2. Quiet: To the point of overdoing it on PSU wattage so that its fan doesn't need to run at 100% all the time. I learned a long time ago that if you are going to dump extra money into anything, let it be a GOOD PSU (hence 7 years on my current build).

3. Gaming: (SINGLE GPU) GPU's have just taken a nosedive in price. My big issue is that I want a GPU that is at a good place in the curve of cost vs performance. I want to game for years to come, but $400 on a GPU is not what I have in mind. I've seen some good ones at $260-$300, but my big hangup is that I don't know if they will fit in a micro box. I want one that exhausts out of the case (2-slot).

4. AMD: I have stock in AMD (too bad I didn't sell it at $35/share). I want to keep supporting AMD.

Once again, I am looking for rock solid components and compatibility. Don't *need* RAID, don't *need* 1TB drive. Back in the day the Raptor 10krpm drives were the shizznit. I would cut cost here, but still want good seek times. If that means 1 10krpm drive or a 200GB RAID setup... w/e works best at a cost reduction.

Any help with pointing me to the right components with a very compatible, rock solid build on today's market would be greatly appreicated.

Looking to be sub $1k, preferrably sub $800 (without monitor). Looking to build/buy now. Thanks all!

Hey I'm going to link you a template. This helps us know alot of things about you so we can tailor the exact advice you need without making us do alot of extra work that has no real benefit for you.

Please put it in this format, it makes it easier for us to help you!

how is your desk space limited?
Does the case HAVE to be micro-atx only? or will regular ATX mid-tower do? (there are also micro-atx small towers and cubes)

1 TB HDDs are pretty cheap, and rather than 10K raptor drives, its just as cheap to get a small SSD for boot if you want to go that route..

here's a $775 build I put together this weekend.

AMD Phenom II X6 1075 & Asus AMD 870 SATA 3/USB3 mobo: $314.98

OCZ 550W Modular PSU and Samsung 1 TB HDD: $114.98
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.514469

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4 GB DDR3-1600 RAM: $83.99

Sapphire HD6850 1GB video card: $179.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

Rosewill Destroyer case: $49.99

4 Additional fans, Blue LED: $14.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200062

LG DVD Burner: $16.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136177

total $775.91

it has a 3.0 GHz (3.5 turbo) 6-core processor, 4 GB RAM, the very latest video card by AMD, 1 regular ATX motherboard, a 1 TB hard drive, and a mid-tower case.

If you absolutely MUST go micro-atx:

you could drop to a 29.99 micro-atx only case from Rosewill
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147112
it can take 2 additional fans for better cooling.

and spend an extra $20 for an 880G with sata 3/usb 3 with the same processor

1. It is hard to find MicroATX case i like...but i have two options for you.
- COOLER MASTER Elite 341 39$ it is cheap simple case, you can consider this one if you want your budget to be more flexible.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119193
SILVERSTONE TJ08-B 99$ much better option but at a "price"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163058

2.Power Supply...well you don’t need more than 500W for your build, so CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-620HX will be more than you need with some to spare. The PSU is modular, It will save you some mess in you small case.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002

3. GPU - You not looking for a monster, so 200$ GPU will do the job for you i think.
- GTX 460, or HD6850/70.
