Hello,

I have recently lost my POV 8600gt. It just stopped working. I can't get it replaced as my warranty period is over,so I need to buy a new card. My pc config is as follows:

CPU: intel dualcore e2140 (1.6 ghz,800mhz FSB)
RAM: 2 gb ddr2
Mobo: Asus P5G-MX (945GC)
PSU: 500W (with 28A on +12V rail)
HDD: 80Gb ATA
Monitor: 17" CRT (resolution 1280 x 1024)

As my PSU came with the ATX it does not come with extra 6pin connectors, so I can at most club together two molex cables to from one 6pin.

I have played Crysis,Crysis Warhead,Mass Effect,Mass Effect 2,Fallout 3,NFS Undercover,COD MW,COD WAW,COD MW2,Assassin Creed,Assassin Creed2,Dead Space,etc at medium or high setting's.

Please suggest a card I can use with this cpu so that it doesn't bottleneck. As for overclocking my mobo doesn't allow it.

I live in India so I won't be able to use the offers on newegg.

Thanks

Looking at your configuration I would say a safe bet as far as nvidia cards go would either be a 250 gt or a 9800 gt. As for ati cards I am sure their are plenty of other here who can tell you the best I'm just not as familiar with them

Will HD5670 be able to give the same performance as my 8600gt? As most websites rate it as low performance card.

Will gts 250 be a good card for me??

GTS250 would be a massive upgrade.

GTS250 would be overkill for a 17 inch monitor. At max 17 inchers are good for doing 1024x768. At that resolution a low end card is enough to max to out most games. If you are upgrading your monitor then i guess, you can look for other options. But the main question is what is your brand and rating of PSU and budget.

I have an old 17" LCD that does 1280x1024 (he has a CRT which he might be able to go higher on). Even at that resolution a HD5670 or 9800GT is plenty.

Which one do you guys think is the better one 9800gt OR hd5670 with regard to performance?

Found this comparison of the two.

Can you please explain whether more memory bandwidth or more pixel & texture fill rate is better.

Thanks
