So im upgrading, or choosing rather, what card to upgrade to....and after viewing some topics on here, see that some cards are 'PCIe x16 gen 2' or gen 1.1 or something. how do i know what my bus type is? my current card is a 4850 HD, computer was a dell XPS 435 MT, which is now in a non micro case. (so same computer, different case)
(also, is there a link to a list of gpu's considered upgrades, that are compatible with my board or w/e)
i know next to nothing about how gpu actually work or w/e, idk anything about clocks, overclocking, ect....so whatever is in the gpu z picture is how it is set all the time.
Your board has a PCIe X16 2.0 slot, so with an adequate PSU, you can support every PCIe card out there.
Oh, the list of GPUs that are better than the 4850 are (from worst to best), cards with asterisk (*) are the ones that are the better buys:
wow thank you very much! but can u explain or link me to an explanation of why a 5830 is better than a 4850?
i thought it was 4(series)8(performance rating)5(speed)0(all end in zero) for 4850, so like a 4870 would be the same card with a faster clock or w/e...apparently i'm wrong.
1 last question, i have a tx650 psu, with a core i7 920, and 4gb ddr3. vista64x....so would that be enough power for any of those cards still?> oh, a 20" lcd in max resolution (5ms, and 60hz)
edit: i only play starcraft 2, and soon, the new civilization...my current set up runs great BUT starcraft still on high/ultra only runs @ about 20 fps on average, with some jumps to 40 here and there, but more often, drops down into the 10's....there is even one 'in game cut scene' that stalls me @ 4fps and i have to tab out until its over. SO will ALL of those graphics cards run at a cool 60 fps on ultra?
hehe, i do realize im asking more and more questions, lol i should just do some research to save u time, sorry.
