Problem is I have the 3 cd's but long ago lost the case, manual, box, etc.
Is there any way for me to extract my cd key from the cd?

I know I could install it by putting in some fake keygen key, but really,
why should I do that when I own the game? Plus I probably wouldnt be able to
play online.

Thanks

Not that I know of. You're screwed.

Good question. I guess you will now own two copies?

You certainly wouldn't.

No, this is not possible, every game CD is the same as everyone elses, your
CD key is the only thing that's different which is usually printed on paper
and put in the CD case somewhere

This will probably be your only choice unless you want to buy it again... I
keep all my CD keys in a password protected file and store them on a CD...
as well as print them out and put them in the file cabinet.

Atari phone support is 425-951-7106 in North America, I don't suppose it
would hurt to just ask them nicely.

Your best bet is probably going to be to buy a new copy of UT2003, or
better yet 2004. I picked up 2003 on eBay for about $9 plus shipping,
and then it turns out I wasn't eligible for the coupon with UT2004.

And here's a reminder to always keep receipts for things! I have a big
box, and whenever I buy software or components, I file the receipts
there. It's /really/ helpfully to be able to prove that you bought
something, in cases like this.

If you can prove to epic that you own the game, they will probably send you
a new cd key. Best to email or call their tech support and inquire as to
how to go about this. That is your only shot.

btw, invest in a notebook. I have a small dayplanner/notebook that I got in
1998 that I use to write down the serial numbers and/or cd keys of
everything I buy for my computer.

No.

It isn't Epic's fault you threw away the vital part of the game.

Doesn't updating to the latest patch disable the key checking?

No... it won't install without the CD key nor will it connect to an online
server if your key is in use... the patch disables the CD protection,
meaning your don't have to have the original CD in the CD drive.

Eh... I may have put my foot in my mouth there, I was thinking of UT2004...
but it's extremely doubtful they would get rid of CD key protection so just
anyone could get a copy of the game and play it

No, I think you're right, I think that's what happens with 2k3 as well.
Sorry.
