Hello,
My CD-DVD ROM drive in my Amilo laptop running on Windows XP SP2 is not
reading CDs and DVDs properly since lately. I cleaned the laser head
but that hasn't helped. Occasionally the drive does read a CD.
Question: Is it possible and advisable to replace this CD-DVD drive
drive with a new one of a different brand? I saw that the drive can
easily be removed from and reinserted into the laptop. If replacement
is advisable, could anyone tell me how to do this step by step as I
have no prior experience in this regard and don't want to end up
creating more problems than solving them.
