cuz i heard about the vertical line problem the freezing BSOD micro stutters and so on
is it usually driver related?
if so what the most stable driver i could get my hands on?
this is my first build btw

The issue was driver related, and AFAIK, the issue has been fixed for several months now. As for the latest driver, just go to AMD's website and you can download it from there.

XFX has a double lifetime warranty if you register your card within 30 days of purchasing it, so if you plan on keeping your card for a while, its a good brand to pick. I can also personally attest to their quality as I own four of their cards and any issues I have had were fixed swiftly through their support team.

thx for the quick reply.
the problem is i live in egypt so iam not sure about XFX support here but the shop itself offers a 3 year warranty,
anyways i heard the 10.8 drivers where a joke
i was gonna get it like in a week so i was worried about driver stability and so on.

seems like ati sucks when it comes to drivers still using driver cleaners in safe mode every few minuts seems like a pain but the 5770 is kinda the best card for the money atm :l .
hope iam lucky i have been drooling over this card for a few days now and i never thought of looking at ati driver issues.
whats the problem anyways?
i thought ati and nvidia had solid drivers that you would never have any issues with but hell i have been using a 7200 gs so iam pretty much a noob in the GPU area.

The 10 suite for ATI just hasn't been solid at all, I'm not sure why, it just seems a LOT of people come here for driver problems and using older drivers fixes those problems.

But even if there are driver problems, you can still use older drivers so its really no big deal, if it was I wouldn't recommend the cards I do.

Nvidia's drivers seem to be very stable as of late, however.

For myself, 10.4 were the best drivers for my 5970, ran BC2 no problem at high FPS as you'd expect. 10.5 - 10.8 and i'm going at 40 FPS at best with settings turned down, some major oversights on profile optimisations by ATI.

I'd go back to 10.4 but i don't know the exact process you need to go through with driver sweeper etc.
