i hope these are not outdated now that i think of it
  2. they doing a hex core sandy bridge ? that would be the only hex core i would even think of buying at the moment :P that thing would wipe the floor with everything
  3. The chart that might be of more interest: Sandry Bridge (microarchitecture)

Doesn't have model numbers... but predicts 6/8 core (12/16 thread) Enthusiast/Extreme LGA2011 Sandy Bridge CPUs...
  4. 8 core sandy bridge that thing would be so much overkill, bet it would come at a price too

If its filling the 'Extreme' (imagine echoes here) slot in Intel's portfolio, it'll be at least $1000. It'll be on at an $200-300+ LGA 2011 (X68?) mobo...
with a 4-channel kit of DDR3. I'd assume 16GB or more of RAM here... so $200-ish. $1500 just for the 'core'.

The hex-cores will probably be a bit more reasonable in the $500-600 neighborhood.... so you'd be closer to a $1000 core.
