Hey,

Im building my first new rig in about 8 years for under £600 and am pretty out of touch with the whole thing but after some research have come up with a list of parts. The computer is to be used for gaming and 3D modelling and animation.

CPU - Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156)

GFX - HIS ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

MOBO - Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

MEM - G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

HDD - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD...

Which totals £564.54

The PSU - Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply

was given to me by a friend so I will be using that to save on having to buy another one, and I already have the rest of the parts such as monitor/case/DVD drive.

How would you rate this system and what changes if any would you make? I noticed that perhaps the PSU is overkill for the system requirements but I dont know if that really matters, and also im not sure if the memory is compatible with the CPU as the CPU says its memory controller only goes upto 1333MHz.

Any Input you have would be greatly appreciated!

Good build. There isn't much to change. You could try getting an i7 if budget allows. The extra threads will help out in 3DS/Maya. Again, depending on your work, 8GB RAM would also help.
