Confirm config - CPU Dead?

Doing a new build, and I think the CPU is dead. When I apply power, I can see the mobo has power, and can attempt to power on with the power button on the mobo. When I do, the CPU fan kicks on for a few seconds, then stops. It will try again about every 10 seconds until I pull the power cord. The CPU LED on the mobo lights up blue. I've tried this with nothing but the CPU installed and power applied, so I'm assuming the CPU is dead. Can anyone look at my config and see if there is any HW issues, and possibly confirm my suspicion of a bad CPU?

Here's my config:
GIGABYTE P67A-UD5 mobo
CPU INTEL|CORE I7 2600K 3.4G
CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V
SAPPHIRE Toxic 100282-2GTXSR Radeon HD 5850
CRUCIAL 256GB SSD

You DID plug in the extra 12v CPU power connector as well as the 24-pin main connector?

Are you referring to the additional 8-pin power connection? If so........NO!!!!!

Definitely got a different response, and the CPU light goes out. Gotta put everything back together, but I think we're good. Thanks!!!!!!
