Hello,
I have a dell latitude d820 laptop for 3 years, works very well until a week ago. It wont power up quickly like it uesed to. It now needs repeated pushes on the power button, like 5 minutes before it spools up,then it works fine. This is consistently every morning. But once it is started it works perfectly. If I shut it down and restart it starts easily when it is warm.
Any ideas, and is it worth fixing. the laptop is over 3 years old.
thanks albert

I have an (older) Inspiron 6400 and your description matches my problem exactly. I have lived with it since the machine was new - help desks only ever consider software problems yet this is clearly hardware. When the machine is cold (below about 15C) it starts & runs at about 1/30th speed. After about 10 minutes it has warmed-up, and if swithced-off (yes, the shutdown takes ages too) it will restart at the right speed. When I last looked on the web there were no other posts about this. Now there are some. (but no solutions!)
