PBM: UT2003 on Gentoo Linux doesn't list any Internet server

Hi.

This is just another post following my question on UT2003 master servers
being down. They're not, hence this post.

I've installed UT2003 v2225 on Gentoo Linux 2.4.26-r6. I've also installed
CM, DE and Epic bonus packs. When I want to play on the Internet, no servers
appear and the list remains dead empty :(.

Does anyone else have that issue (I know at least someone who does, see my
other post about UT2003 servers)? Can it be fixed? and how?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Vince C.

Have you got your firewall settings on too high a level?

Check the log file in ~/.ut2003/System/UT2003.log to see if you can
reach the master servers. Perhaps a firewall setting?

I don't have ut2003 installed since I bought ut2004, so I can't check
for you.

Well, my FW is just a Windows XP machine with Internet connection shared.
Gentoo is on another one. I think I can safely assume if it works with UT
classic (which can ping servers and connect) it should as well with UT200x,
shouldn't it?

Thanks again, Meltdown. There are a couple of strange things in the log
file (note I got them since the first time I installed UT2003 on
Gentoo). Here's part of the entire log file, hope you'll find something:

There you go... the connection is established, and then closed again.
Try using ut2003master2.epicgames.com, and see if that works. Also,
check the log files on your XP firewall, if any.

Another useful tool is Ethereal - it's a network analyzer, which can
be a live saver if you have network-related problems.

Thaaaaaaaaanks a lot, MeltDown. I was about to reinstall Gentoo once
more (naaa, just kidding, it took me about one week to have all setup
back from previous installation; I don't want to do that again soon).

I wonder what happened to master server 1 but, well, that works. Hope
master server 2 won't kick me away for a long time... I've lost so much
practice!

Thanks again,
Vince C.
