Faulty PCI power cord for new card?

I am about to put another gtx480 in my system, and as I understand it, I need one 6-pin and one 8-pin pci power cable. I have those cords, but when I looked at the 8-pin, I noticed one of the sides only had 7 small wires going into all but one of the 8 pins. I'll put a picture below:

Is this cord faulty, or is that how they are supposed to look?

That is what you get with that specific PSU. It will most likely work.
