Which Mobo is BEST for i7 2600K???

Hey Everyone,

This will be my first build and I just wanted to get a little feedback and any suggestions. This system will be primarily used for video editing with After Effects CS5 and Sony Vegas but a little gaming here and there and some day to day stuff. Here is what I'm looking at now,

Intel i7 2600K 3.4 GHz Unlocked 8MB Cache
Asus P8P67 EVO Board
2 x DDR3 8 1600 MHz Corsair (2x4GB) 16GB Total
EVGA GTX 580 SC 1536MB GDDR5 Video Card

I've read some bad reviews on the P8P67, does anyone have a board they love for the 2600K?

  1. heres a pretty good board. it is recommended by tom's :p http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229
  2. What's your budget for the motherboard? What do you plan for storage? # of drives, etc

    Under $150

    ASUS P8Z68-M Pro

    Under $200

    Asus Maximus IV Extreme GENE-Z

    Over $200

    Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z

Can Aftr Effects CS5 utilize the gpu muscle? If you don't plan to use SLI, you can find many non-SLI boards for under $150 and still have your choice of chipsets: z68, p67, etc.
  3. evo isn't a regular use for 2600k you must go with asus p8z68 vpro or p8p67 pro both are excellent options
