Is this an upgrade? Then from what? It should be supported.

yes, I upgraded from the CPU it came with (I think it was a 1300 AMD Anthlon single core). I can't remeber. I upgraded it a long time ago. Recently Dell sent a equipment scan program that came up with an error that the computer wasn't configured for a dual processor. So I went thru the BIOS (something I'm not all too familiar wiht) and couldn't find anything to change. NOTE, when I upgraded, I just put the new processor in and made sure the BIOS recognized the change. So, other then that, I haven't made any changes. So, I'm confused. Shouldn't this change be auto matically recognized? I'm lost as to what step(s) I'm missing.

It should be automatic but you can always download the dual core optimizer and cpu driver from AMD http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.1&product=2.1.2&contentType=Tech+Download+Processor&ostype=&keywords=&items=20
But if bios is recognizing the CPU correctly then it is probably alright.

Thank you. I will try the optimizer. I vaguely remeber some sort of AMD software loaded, but cannot remeber what it was. I'll let you know if that makes a difference. Thank you again for your help

I cannot seem to get to the file. the window on the AMD website opens, but the file doesn't populate. gggrrr thats frustrating. I guess I will try later.
