AMD phenom 965 or Intel i 760

So im gonna upgrade my computer with some new parts.. the question is shall i go with the AMD or intel if i go with the intel i will have to buy a new motherboard too.. so im looking for the price / performance. i have seen some tests and AMD is really close to the intel its like a difference with 10 FPS sometimes.. so is it really worth it to pay about 120$ more for 10 FPS i mean will i even be able to see that with the eye.. also im gonna be running with the higest grapich possible

If you want to keep your motherboard go with the 965 and overclock it to 4ghz.

If you want to be solid for the future go with a 2500k and a p67 motherboard. This will be alot faster.

I was looking to upgrade a few days ago and i am a amd guy but intel's offering are better as of right now.

You will bottle neck less with the 2500k Also it wont be outdated as fast as amd.

For $25 more that i5-760 you get the i5-2500K, with much better peformance, less power use and less heat.

okay the prices are

with the AMD its about 500$

but with the Intel its about 743 $

whoch is ALOT of money the reason is that i have to get a new motherboard.

i play most FPS games and strategy.
FPS like: cod waw, cod black ops, crysis 2. battlefield.. and so on..
and if the AMD will handle those games fine i dont think its worth it to pay THAT much more for an intel because then it goes to overkill almost

Well for what it matters i switched to intel 1 day ago because even with the amd build i was going to bottle neck to much.

the intel does a BIG difference it eats up the AMD.. is see that now.. its just the money / worth it. i think i would be able to get the 2500k. then i need a good mother board which is not too expensive

For Sandy Bridge go with ASUS P8P67 Pro or Gigabyte P67A-UD4, both are very good.

If you can get the Phenom II 965 + a HD 6950 for the same money as Intel + HD 6870, buy the first one, it will be better in gaming.
