I have a Gigabyte AMD 970 + SB950 Chipset GA-970A-D3 board and I was planning on either getting G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) or the PC3 10666..

the board says its compatible with DDR3 1333 memory..

however the memory says its not compatible with the chipset that the board has installed..

AMD 890 Series
AMD 790 Series

that's all that it lists.. will this memory still do well with my motherboard??

It's odd that the RAM would be approved for a specific AMD chipset because the memory controller on AMD CPUs has been integrated into the CPU and has NOT been part of the chipset for years. You want RAM that is AMD Phenom II compatible.

FYI- Bulldozer/Zambezi CPUs use 1866 Mhz. RAM by default but they might run with 1600 Mhz. RAM also?

Yeah idk I was just curious because it only listed 890 ad 790 so figured I'd ask to make sure since this is a first time build for me
