I am using a L310 toshiba satellite laptop with 32bit. I installed 4gb of ram but only 2.8 is showing as usable. Does this mean that only 2.8gb out of 4gb is working? Is upgrading to 64bit will be the answer to consume all the 4gb ram? Also, I was about to reformat my laptop and I am having hard time looking for drivers that would run on windows 7 OS 64 bit. Will the windows XP 32 bit drivers run on windows 7 64 bit OS? Please HELP!

Download all of the Windows 7 64-bit device drivers in the link of the first reply that I posted to your hard disk drive or a USB flash drive before you install Windows 7 64-bit.

Since you have an Intel Core2 Duo T6400 CPU and an Intel motherboard chipset the drivers all appear in that link I gave you. Just click on the word Download that appears on each line that the driver description appears on to start the download of that driver.

I'm getting pissed >.<..Can anyone help me looking for drivers? I need drivers that runs on windows 7 64 bit. My laptop is toshiba L310 core 2 duo. I have a 4gb ram but only 2.8 is usable and I want to max the 4gb. I have a friend telling me that I need to upgrade it to 64 bit so that I can consume the whole 4gb. Please help! I need drivers for 64 bit win 7.

There is no such thing as a Toshiba Satellite L310 desktop PC.

Toshiba stopped selling desktop PCs back in 2001. That's long before Windows 7 appeared on the market.

The link I gave you is the Windows 7 64-bit drivers for the laptop that you are using.

You didn't even specify the laptop's model number so yours may have an Intel CPU, graphics and chipset or an AMD CPU, graphics and chipset.

I'm not a mind reader so you'll have to figure out exactly which of those drivers you will need to download.

Download all of the Windows 7 64-bit device drivers in the link of the first reply that I posted to your hard disk drive or a USB flash drive before you install Windows 7 64-bit.

Since you have an Intel Core2 Duo T6400 CPU and an Intel motherboard chipset the drivers all appear in that link I gave you. Just click on the word Download that appears on each line that the driver description appears on to start the download of that driver.

BTW, I believe your on-board graphics is sharing your memory, changing from 32 bit to 64 bit won't help you utilize more memory unless you upgrade to 8gb of ram. Also based on the cost from changing from 32bit to 64bit or 4gb to 8gb, you would do better to buy an SSD drive.

Can you please explain to me what Bill said please? My video card is sharing my ram? how was it possible? I thought they are separate >.<. so even if I upgrade it to 64 bit, the result will still be the same 2.8gb usable? T_T

I did not see in your PC specs any graphics card and as most laptops go they typically use Intel GMA graphics which shares memory. You can check your PC hardware device manager and see if it lists any Intel Graphics Adapter under "Display Adapters".

As for an SSD it is not a hard disk drive but a solid state drive comprised of memory chips vs spinning discs. The difference in speed is more noticeable then as if you added 16gb of ram, everything will open and close as fast as you can blink.

There may be a BIOS settings that allows you to set the maximum amount of system RAM that can be used by the Integrated Graphics Processing Unit (iGPU).

From your DXDIAG info it looks like at least 128 MB is dedicated to the iGPU. The iGPU may use up to a total of 1326 MB if it needs it.

You install Windows 7 64-bit first. After the Windows 7 installation has completed you then install the drivers that you've downloaded.

The laptop motherboard chipset, LAN, display, audio, camera, touchpad, etc. device drivers were all in the link that I gave you.

You will have to install each device driver one at a time.

I am done reformatting and thanks to all of your efforts guys helping me on this. Just that there are no changes, it consumed almost all of the ram and it has now 3.8gb usable. The reason that I reformatted my laptop is to increase its performance in playing a game (dragon nest) but still nothings have change from 2.8 to 3.8gb. Is upgrading to 6gb (buying 1 4gb ram) will give a big help on this? Or maybe its because of the processor which is 2.0ghz only?

Your problem isn't CPU, memory or OS. It's the integrated Intel GMA HD4500 that's holding your gaming performance back.

Dragon Nest specifies the nVidia GeForce 7600 as the minimum graphics card.

The integrated Intel GMA HD4500's performance is much lower than the nVidia GeForce 7600.

Dragon Nest actually recommends an nVidia GeForce 8 Series graphics card or better.
