Best GTX to couple with XXX GTX-280

I'm assembling a computer for a friend who is adamant on keeping his XXX GTX-280 XXX(no shure). I was wondering what the best card would be to couple with it in SLI, as a primary (DX11) or secondary card.

- Will the GTX 460 SLI with one of these?
- Should I just try to find another GTX 280,285,295? Would have to be second-handed of course, since they are selling for ~the price of the OC'd 460's and the 470's....

Thanks for your attention :)

The only card that can be SLi'd with a GTX280 is another GTX280.

Sorry for late response, had to leave. Any other card I can use just for Physics - in a 3 SLI configuration?

2X GTX 280 + another card just for Physics???

Thanks for the heads up!

Yes you can use another card for Physics, I'd recommend a GTS 250.

@ r_Rozx

Already looking for another 280 for SLI + an inferior Nvidia just for Physics (GTS250 like Helltech suggested or a 9000 series).

Will this work: 280+280 SLI + GTS250 just for Physics???

MoBo is an Ansus Rampage Formula
CPU Intel Q9000 series (think it's the 9550)

Thanks for all the help...

@mark_k

How much you asking for them?
Will you only sell one? (already have a XFX for the build)

Solved.
Bought a really cheap fully working PC from a Portuguese auction site. It had a XFX - GTX280, and a lot of useful hardware I can use in the build. The seller livened near me, so I had the possibility to try everything out before buying :)

Now looking for a Physics dedicated card (probably a GTS).

Thanks for all your support, advice and tolerance!

A GT240 would be all that is required for the few games that use PhysX.
