I have a Toshiba 500gb external hard disk. Ive been using it for 5 years , then one day i cat open it on my computer,i tried it on other computers and still gets the same result. My computer detects it but it just shows Local Disk D; without the memory allocation bar. I tried opening it but it says data error (cyclic redundancy check). I also tried using different cables but nothing happens. I need the files in it. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

If it's at that point, it sounds like it's done for. Most data recovery only works on lost/damage partition data that can be rebuilt, but crc/data redunc. errors are usually the drive can't even read anything.

Data recovery warehouse could do it, but that's hundreds to thousands of dollars.

An external drive lasting 5 years is good, they don't usually last long.
