So i grabbed an XFX 6850 and registered it....they said that there is a BIOS flash update for the card to fix the fan problem (fan is on at 73% idle lol)

so i got the flash file but how do i properly flash my 6850?

I downloaded the flash zip file from XFX and unzipped it this is whats in the readme

"Please copy all files to your bootable USB pen drive.

Then once booted to DOS prompt type 685flash.bat

This will then save your current BIOS as a backup

And then flash the new BIOS to the card."

Those are pretty clear instructions? Where are you lost? Creating a DOS USB?

Here you go: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=421469
There are MANY guides on the net on how to do this. Find and try them.

Then just copy the files XFX provided.

You can also use MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision and create a profile with lower fan speed and let it start with Windows.

See? XFX/EVGA are pretty good with things like this. Their Forums are a very good resource.
