R60 black square on Motherboards

Hello,
What is the black square things lables r60 one has burnt up on a motherboard I have I want to replace it and see if its ok..

Where can I buy one of these and what do they do.

One definately burnt up on a motherboard I have barely any paint left on it and a burn mark on the back of the motherboard.

It's part of the DC-to-DC Step-Down Converter in the power VRM circuit that is used to supply power to various components like the CPU or motherboard chipset etc.

Is there another place I can get one. The one at mouser is a surface mount the ones on the mother board go through the board and solder on the back side

Yes. I know what you mean. It's not a consumer or user replaceable device so it's difficult to obtain.

If you can find a dead motherboard that has that part then you can use it as a parts source, desolder the required part and put it on your motherboard.

I really wanted to try and fix it. Its not on any of the other motherboards I have laying around. The older MBs I have have the coil ones on them and if they are not correct they most likely wont work.. I have replaced capacitors before and fixed tvs and stuff. Just like to do that kind of thing. Hopefully I'll find one..
