I built a new system recently (thanks for component advice to this site) and had a number of challenges due to hardware failures bringing it up (again, thanks for troubleshooting help)... but i'll get to to the point...

Win7 (new install and all new components)
Ultra XBlaster Mid-Tower Case Black
Ultra LSP550 550w Power Supply
ASUS P7H55-M LE Intel H55 LGA1156
Intel Core i3-530 2.93Ghz 4M LGA1156 CPU
Corsair XMS3 4GB PC10666 DDR3 Dual 1333MHz
WD Caviar 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB PCIe DDR5

The system was running fine for a few weeks, but now it is powering down suddenly, mostly during bootup. It will then power back on after a few seconds and try again. The timing for the shutdown varies, but it mostly happens during bootup or in the first few minutes of normal operation.

Thanks in advance for the troubleshooting/investigation advice.

Cheers,
Jeff

system is not overclocked.

when replacing RAM tonight (removed one stick a few weeks ago and problems reduced), i was able to cycle power by flexing case. i'm guessing either a bad connection somewhere or a short from the MB to the case. my plan is to disassemble, place some kind of electrical insulator (thin plastic something) between MB and case, then check connections. sound like a reasonable plan that isn't overlooking something?

thanks for the input.

cheers,
jeff
