Hey guys, so i have an acer aspire e380 with a amd athlon 64 x2 4200+ and i just had my birthday and wish to upgrade my processor with the cash i got from my lads, however before i make a move i need to know what processors and how much ram this motherboard can handle i already have an nvidia 9800gt graphics card in there replacing an old radeon x1650, any ideas? All welcomed sorry if this is in wrong category im a tomshardware newbie lol

Your system is AM2 and upgrading it is almost pointless unless you can grab another faster X2 for cheap used, max ram is 4GB http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireE380/AspireE380sp2.shtml

Thanks for the reply , so i could for example replacd my old 4200 with maybe a 5000 processor?

Yes as long as it is AM2.
