  1. *sigh* There has been so many threads like this it is quite annoying. Please read the Forums.

    See: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/297762-31-desktop-build-photo-video-editing-appreciated

At least do some basic research and give us a parts list.
  2. $3000 - $5000?

Its a computer, not a car! for $5000 you can buy 2 fully decked out i7-980x systems

Sheesh. At that price, just pick whatever you want. it'll work.

A decent system that'll run all that well can be purchased for $1200-1500 (using an AMD hexcore), or for $2500ish for an i7-975 extreme or 980x 6-core.
  3. ^ Ok, that will do if you are going to be using heavy rendering programs like 3DS Max, Maya, etc. Else that is a waste. The FX is NOT a gaming card, you need a gaming card if your main priority is gaming.
  4. Is there a good card that can do both heavy rendering and heavy gaming?
  5. ^ For the sake of OpenGL performance, I'd get a GTX460 or 470. Both of these cards have good OpenGL performance that is needed for many 3D rendering/CAD programs. These are also quite good gaming cards.

But seriously, do you need this system ASAP? Sandy Bridge is just around the corner.
  6. Well, I have waited for Sandy Bridge. Here is my current list:

Intel Core i7-2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz

COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series RSA00-80GAD3-US

    GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD3 LGA 1155 Intel P67

    SPARKLE SXX4701280D5-NM GeForce GTX 470

    2x Crucial 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

    2x SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

why me's suggestions are pretty good, although I think you could get away with a 650 or 700W PSU
  9. What's a good alternate to ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard? I'm having trouble finding it in stock.
