hi guys
just have a quick question to all you pc pro's out there
ok heres the situation i am in i currently have a decent gaming pc it contains a
phenom ii b50 x3 7mb l3 cache @ 3.5
and a m4a78-e 790gx crossfire motherboard
4gb patriot 800mhz ddr2 memory
asus cucore 5770
500gb western digital
and i am looking at putting another hd 5770 in a crossfire setup howver i thought about also upgrading to 6gb of kingston hyper x 1066mhz
i usually play games such as call of duty modern warfare 2 and bad company 2 (cod black ops when it comes out)
which upgrade would be most beneficial for gaming and if i did get another 5770 would it bottleneck on my system i game a a res of 1440 by 900

thanks
chris

I would say forget about the RAM, if it is a 6gb kit then it is not a dual channel witch your motherboard uses. You could upgrade the memory to 1066MHz ddr2 but is it worth the cost?..no.
I play modern warfare 2 at 1920x1080 with everything max..and with 1 5770 and have a minimum of 30fps in most demanding places, but usually i have 60, when using v-sink on. Max was ~170 or something like that.

I say keep your money, rise a few more and go on a holiday and have fun with friends.

If you really want to upgrade anything wait for the 6000 series to come out this year and the price of the 5000 will go down, it has started already i think.
I would not invest a large amount of money on a ddr2 system. Well you could buy a single and more powerful card like the 5870 or a 6000 series card, and cover a part of the price by selling the one you have.

A single card scales better then 2 cards.

I think at 1440 by 900 the 5870 will max out metro 2033 witch is a very demanding game.

You do n't need more memory unless you're using memory intensive serious software.
At that resolution I'd say the single HD5770 should be enough as well, are you having framerate problems with this setup?
