Should i go for the gtx 470 or 5850.
i am more inclined towards the 470 as it has many features like 3d vision and others but 5850 doesnt seem to offer any such thing. Also can i use 2 5850 and a gtx 470 for physx and 3d vision

More about : gtx 470 2x5850

There are some things you have to consider.2 GTX 470s will perform far better than 2 HD 5850s.But they will also consume much more power.Still the GTX 470s are a better option. Make sure that you have a good 850+ W PSU for the job.

You have to decide whether you want 3D or PhysX, but you can do PhysX on ATI+ Nvidia combination with driver mods. But I do not think that it is a good idea.

I'd recommend 2x GTX 470's, given that you would need an adequate PSU + cooling solution so they work well, However if you get 2x 5850's and can successfully overclock them to 5870 level's I believe that would be the better option.

If you're bothered about power consumption get the GIGABYTE GTX 470 SOC.It has less power consumption, lower temperatures and is overclocked.

You can get the GTX 470 SOC from gigabyte, which was recently reviewed by Tom's.It consumes less power than a reference 470, runs cooler and quieter and comes overclocked.

SLI scales better than crossfire so the GTX 470s would be the better choice. You may want to consider saving some money and going with SLIed GTX 460s. They will cost use much less power and give off much less heat(important for a multi-card setup) and still match an HD5970. Outside of 3 monitor gaming anything more is overkill really IMO.

i think its 2 470s that match the 5970, but still when i buy 2 460s wont my performance reduce during 3d gameplay or at even normal rates. is the 460 a replacement for the 260?

If your budget goes upto GTX470 SLI, why dont you get a single a HD5970? Would run cooler, provide a heavy duty performance you are looking for and would save a lot of power.

Oh.. Forgot about that! :(

Well in that case GTX470 SLI is the obvious choice!

yeah exactly if i went with one 5970 i would get similiar performance to 2 x 270 but no phusx or 3d vision, and probably nvidia has got better driver support.

The red bars are the comparison between SLIed GTX 460s VS HD5970. If it is to the left(negative number) that means the HD5970 was faster in that game, to the right means the GTX 460s were faster.

that means the 460s are pretty good, if i wait for a few months, nvidia's kepler would come out
