I've got Windows 7 64-bit installed on an SSD (hooked up to one of the Intel SATA III ports). I've tried to set up two WD Caviar Blue 1TB drives in a RAID 0 through the motherboard SATA RAID controller (hooked into two of the SATA II ports). After I select SATA RAID mode and create the RAID volume with the two HDDs, Windows tries to boot and stalls out at varying points on the logo screen.
As a compromise, I've got the two HDDs set up as a striped volume through Disk Manager with the SATA mode set to AHCI in BIOS, but I'm kind of curious as to why I can't get the on-board RAID feature to play nice. I've seen a few discussions on message boards about this but no real solutions so far. Any suggestions?
