Ok here's the deal i'll make this short. Im on a budget so I can't get a top notch card, I currently own a GTX 280 and am considering selling it to buy a GTX 460 1GB. I know that the 400 series has DX11 but *I DO NOT CARE ABOUT DX11 AT THE MOMENT* I just want the card that flat out performs better. I can OC my GTX 280 to GTX 285 speeds however. What do you guys recommend ? Which card flat out perform better on games ? THANKS !!

Well the GTX4601GB will outperform it, but the difference isn't much. Then again if you sell your GTX 280 for enough, it might be worth it.

Personally if I was upgrading from a GTX280 I wouldn't get less then a GTX 470/5850. Even then the performance difference wouldn't be that high.

Is your GTX280 not giving you the performance you want? Its still a pretty high-end card...

+1 the GTX280 is still a very good performer, if i was you i would upgrade the card in 2011 when the upcoming ATi 6xxx series will be complete from top to bottom, plus the GTX 5xx may come out in that time, so i suggest that you wait.

Dont bother upgrading for anything less than 2x the performance. Methinks anything less just isnt worth it. Upgrade? Get an ATI 6850 or something when it releases.
If you haev yo upgrade now, I suggest a 5850 or GTX 460 SLI setip. Nothing less.

I just re-sli'd my accelero gtx 280s cause i bought a gtx 460 for my "HDTV" rig. I contemplated on selling my 280s at $170 a piece. Then i thought about it and wanted to wait cause those cards still pump out good results. I am probably going to use them till they burn out. The 460 i bought is pretty sick though. Idle temps w/ fans at 100% is 24C so far. Of course the computer is in the living room with space to breath and enough fans pulling and pushing air through the case.

Anyway im rambling. The gtx 280's are still a great card probably till the end of 2012... if we live that long! :o  :pt1cable:
