Hello everyone!

I'm facing a strange problem..

Yesterday i bought a new WD my passport essential usb 3.0 500GB Ext HDD, but when i plugged it into my usb 3.0 port in my motherboard, the files just copied with the general usb 2.0 speed. i didn't get any speed enhancement.

i have installed the NEC electronics usb 3.0 driver provided with the motherboard, i have used the usb 3 cable that was provided..but the speed doesn't increase..

could you please help me out with this issue??

My total configuration:

intel core i5 750 processor
MSI P55A-GD65 motherboard
kingston 2 GB DDR3 RAM
Corsair 2 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB seagate internal barracuda
1 TB seagate external HDD
500GB WD My passport usb 3
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit.
XFX Radeon 5670 1GB GDDR5 GFX

Hi!

I went into the BIOS and checked...

My BIOS didn't have any speed control for usb 3.0, it just had a feature allowing me to enable or disable the usb ports...
i had of course enabled the ports, but still i'm getting the low speed of usb 2.0...please help!!

thanks .

Copy large files 10gb+ from your usb2.0 external hdd to your main HDD and from your usb3.0 external HDD to your main HDD and see if it is the same.

Remember to restart the PC after you copied the files from usb2.0 to HDD, before doing the same with the usb3.0 HDD

If the usb3.0 is faster, even if it is only slightly it means it's working, as it's been said all over review sites usb3.0 is not as fast as the specifications suggest over usb2.0
