New 955 BE or i5 Build

Good Day All,

I am new to the site and am very anxious to get my new build started! My computer knowledge is very limited but i would like to build myself a new pc, which i have never done before. I have been doing a lot of research over the past few weeks, and am now ready to buy the guts of my computer.


Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next few days

Budget Range: DoNt really have one, would like to keep it low though

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, web surfing

Parts Not Required: (keyboard, mouse, monitor, case, HDD, Optical Drive, PSU)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.ca

Country of Origin: Canada

Parts Preferences: No Preference - what components will give me best results

Overclocking: Not right now, maybe n the future

SLI or Crossfire: Yes, in the future

Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080p

This price difference is that that much of a big deal to me. Anyone recommend which route to take, or any suggestions. After this is sorted out i will need a good gpu and of course Win 7 64 Bit.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated !

    Can i go with either Geforce 460 or the 6870? will they both be compatible?
  2. If those are you choices, go for the 6870. If you can, get the 6850 and OC it a bit, it will do you great.

    The 460 will also be a bit higher temp wise than either of the 68xx cards.
  3. if your budge permits the the i5 build is better

    as for a GPU get a 6850 and overclock it as they rock a 460 and a 6870 when overclocked and are really easy to overclock and their Crossfire scaling is amazing
