64bit OS, Will my laptop support 8gb of ram?

Hi everyone, I have a dell vostro v13 laptop that I absolutely love but I would love to pack some ram into this thing. Currently I have only 2gb of ram in here but was wondering if I can upgrade to more then 4gb. I only have one slot available for RAM and I am running 64 bit windows 7. If I purchase an 8gb stick would my laptop utilize all 8gbs?

thats really up to the hardware. find your manual and see what max ram is.

The website says that it can take "Up to 2GB Single Channel DDR3 1333MHz 1 DIMM"

So, I very highly doubt it will take 8, I don't know if it will take 4 or not. Buy it, try it, if it doesn't work, return it.

I have a client that has a Dell Inspiron 17r and it only said 4GB total for 2 slots (2X2GB) and I installed 2X4GB and it worked. So I think its a crap shoot. Go somewhere like CompUSA and have them install 2X4GB in the system and test it. If it doesn't work they won't charge you and their install on memory is free.

Dell sold the vostro v13 with a 4gb configuration, So I'm sure theres a way of making a 4gb stick to work with it.

I guess I'll just buy a 8gb stick and see if it works. After I do I'll report back.

If you look at the 3rd post you will see that the computer only has 1 dimm...

Sorry, I actually haven't tried it till a few months after and it did not work.

I forget if there was an error or if my laptop was just stuck on the boot screen but it definitely would not start up with an 8gb stick. I put the 4gb back in and it started up just fine.
