Very low res on monitor

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I have a Compaq
Presario 1800 laptop. There is a very low res on the monitor. If you
look hard you can see the desktop. I have totally replaced the monitor
part and it's still the same thing. I've also replaced the internet
board thinking the video adapter of that piece would be bad. I still
have the same issue.

I was wondering does anyone out there know exactly what the problem
could be.

I am assuming the backlight is in the monitor part of the laptop so I
don't think it would be that.

Could it be the LCD indicator board?

I would appreciate any help. I'm new to repairing laptops.
