Please help me!

Hi every one!
I am new to this forum.I need your help.I am going to build a computer for my personal use but i am confused which hardware i should use.
My requirements are:
Motherboard : which can be support more than 24gb ram & i7 prossesors. motherboard should be powerful so i can upgrade other things in the future like ram or hard drives or processors.
Processor : i7 800+
ram : minimum 16gb
VGA : minimum 512mb dual monitor suported
And please tell me what is else I should include for this machine like how much watts of power supply i should use for this machine.
Please note i am not in gaming i will use this system for my personal use like video editing,net surfing,programing etc. & making some virtual machines.
also suggest me some cool stuff like pc case ETC.
Please do reply please. I am really confused.

is there a specific reason why you would need 16-24GB ram?

If you can tel us a little more about what you're planning to use this for?

As perhaps we can help point out a good price/performance break so you don't get 16GB of memory if you'll never use over 8GB for example. Or what type of HDD setup you'll need.

Also the forums has a few default builds for various purposes that if you look at may give you a better idea of current technology/parts.

If all you want is a decent computer set for modest gaming and normal stuff then you can find something for $600.

If you want high end for gaming/video processing then you may be looking at $1200(more if monitors/speakers etc).

However a high end machine for gaming(well higher end I never spend over $1k true high end may be a few k but I'll say $1500 for these purposes) or a high end for graphics processing/encoding whatever may be same price but totally different components.

Actually at this time 4gb ram is much enough for me i bought my current machine in 2005 and it's completed 5 years without any up gradation. Now I want to build a new pc with higher parts so i can easily use it for next 5 years or more.

My current pc is Compaq presario. amd athlon 64 x2. 2.0 dual core.256mb vga. 4gb ddr2 ram.

I am a web developer & graphic/video editor. I want to use Photoshop,Flash,Coraldraw,Sony Vegas,Sony acid,Serif movie plus,dreamviewer,winx dvd ripper,and some other software at the same time. Mostly i use my computer about 10 hours or more daily.And i also want to use virtualbox (a virtual machine software) for testing & using some other OS.
I am not interested in gaming.I need a professional pc ok.
Currently i have amd with nvidea & i never face any problem with them so you can suggest me from these brands.
My budget is 1200$ (only for cpu,not monitors speakers etc) i can spend more if it's enough.
Kindly suggest me some cool parts.
